On April 6, a working meeting of the Chairman of the Board of the N. Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Inter-civilization Dialogue Bulat Sarsenbayev with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lebanon to the Republic of Kazakhstan Giscard El Khoury was conducted.
The sides discussed the state and prospects of bilateral relations on interfaith and interreligious cooperation, promoting Kazakhstan's international initiatives in the field of interfaith development, popularizing the goals and objectives of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions at the international level, as well as holding the XIX meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress at a high quality level in the current year and the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in 2022.
Bulat Sarsenbayev stressed that Lebanon is a reliable partner of Kazakhstan in the Middle East region and the Arab world as a whole. In order to maintain peace and harmony within the framework of the peacekeeping mission of Kazakhstan in Lebanon, 120 Kazakhstani peacekeepers perform their professional duty.
In turn, Ambassador Giscard El Khoury highly appreciated the peacekeeping activities of Kazakhstan in ensuring regional and global security, and also noted the importance of strengthening cooperation in the development of interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue.
In addition, the Lebanese diplomat confirmed further support for the international platform – the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and its institutions.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of the Center N. Nazarbayev Bulat Sarsenbayev shared warm memories of the country and the Lebanese people during his work as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Lebanon.
In general, the sides agreed on active interaction on the development of interfaith dialogue aimed at strengthening spiritual unity, friendship of peoples, interethnic harmony.
