Every year, 21th of May celebrates the World Day of cultural diversity for dialogue and development. This day symbolizes not only the richness of world cultures, but also the important role of intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development. The United Nations General Assembly first declared this world day in 2002, following the adoption by UNESCO of the 2001 universal Declaration on cultural diversity, which recognized the need to "build the potential of culture as a means to achieve prosperity, sustainable development and global peaceful coexistence".
The N. Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Inter-civilizational dialogue expresses its commitment to the dialogue of cultures and civilizations, and regularly promotes the values of cultural diversity, dialogue and development around the World.
