International Center and National Volunteer Network Sign Memorandum of Understanding

On 19 October 2026, the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue and the National Volunteer Network signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Astana. The document was signed by Gulsana Kozhabay, Chair of the Board of the International Center, and Tatyana Mironyuk, Executive Director of the National Volunteer Network.

The signing supports humanitarian initiatives in the International Year of Volunteers. This global initiative was proposed by Kazakhstan and supported by the United Nations. The Memorandum provides for the development of joint volunteer and youth initiatives, the organization of international events, the implementation of socially significant projects, and support for international forums and conferences.

Particular attention will be given to cooperation within the framework of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and its institutions. Volunteers from the National Volunteer Network have extensive experience in supporting major international peacebuilding events in Kazakhstan, including the Congresses of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

In particular, volunteers contributed to the 24th Meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress, during which three strategic documents were developed in furtherance of the Astana Peace Declaration 2025: “The Role of Religions in Combating Climate Change,” “Code of Ethics for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Religious Contexts,” and “Charter of the Rights of a Child with an Incurable Disease.”

The signing of the Memorandum will lay the foundation for practical cooperation aimed at promoting a culture of volunteerism, strengthening intercultural and interreligious understanding, and expanding youth participation in socially significant initiatives.
