Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue was established a year ago on initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K. Tokaev that was heartily agreed by participants and delegates of VI Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in 2018.
The mission of the Center is to promote effectively intercivilization, interreligious and interfaith dialogue and harmony in global level, popularize the ideas and decisions of the Congresses of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions through world community, increase the recognition of Kazakhstan as a country that had been initiated a unique global interreligious dialogue at the beginning of the 21st century first-ever.
Over the past period a professional team of experts with scientific degrees has been formed. The team has been formed in accordance with gender policy compliance; our employees speak English, French, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Turkish, Czech, Farsi, Polish and other foreign languages. Nazarbayev Center has drawn up own Strategy and Development Concept and had officially applied to register the Center in the UN system. There has been done creative and innovative large-scale work to get the Center into leading and world respected interreligious and interfaith organizations club, to conduct presentations in Vienna, Islamabad, Abu- Dhabi, Cairo, Baku, Moscow, Ankara, Istanbul, New York, Geneva, New Delhi, Tehran, Riyadh, Brussels, Vatican, Rome and Dubai.
In 2019, as a part of Congress and its Secretariat working structure, we took an active part in XVIII Secretariat and its Working Group organizing and conducting. Now we are in active phase of preparation to upcoming XIX Secretariat with participation of spiritual leaders and religious leaders representatives from Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Shintoism, Taoism, Zoroastrianism, as well as international organizations. International and republican events are organized with participation of representatives of foreign and domestic religious associations, heads of international organizations and scientific and expert community.
In coordination with the Senate and the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Center has got cooperation with foreign similar organizations. Over the year the Center has signed Partnership Agreement with the UN Alliance of Civilizations; Memorandums on interaction and cooperation with an Islamic Research Institute of Islamabad International Islamic University, Emirates International Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University. We plan to sign similar agreements with the Vatican Pontifical Council, the Muslim World League, the Muslim Council of Elders, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Religions for Peace, the Al-Azhar University in Cairo, with Jordanian partners and many other organizations.
On the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Victory over Fascism and Nazism the members of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions issued special Address that was published in 30 countries.
Center’s experts carry out daily professional monitoring and research and practice analysis of the world and country religious situation, which is especially important in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Experts form news digests in different languages.
The past year has been very dynamic and fruitful, but now we are set out to reach new goals and highs.
