On March 18–19, 2026, Elmira Birali, Director of the Department for Religious Expertise at the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue (ICIID), and Chief Expert Aidana Sabiyeva visited Almaty to provide methodological support for the preparation and review of materials submitted for religious expertise.
During the visit, the team worked closely with the Almaty City Department for Religious Affairs, offering practical guidance to improve procedures for the preliminary assessment of materials. The discussions focused on specific cases presented by the Department and on current challenges, including the growing volume and variety of religious materials and the handling of administrative offense cases. From these discussions, practical recommendations were developed to improve the quality of expert work.
Additionally, the delegation met with specialists from the Center for the Study of Religious Issues of Almaty. The discussions addressed key aspects of conducting religious studies expertise, the dissemination of religious content in online environments, and the established procedures for submitting materials for review. Participants exchanged professional insights, sought clarifications on critical issues, and considered approaches to further enhance the quality of expert practice.
