Kazakhstan and Indonesia Strengthen Cooperation in the Field of Religion

Jakarta, August 8, 2025 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Indonesia Serzhan Abdykarimov, held a meeting with Nasaruddin Umar, Minister for Religious Affairs of Indonesia, Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta. During the meeting, two sides discussed the issues of cooperation between two countries.

The diplomat expressed gratitude to the Minister Umar for his significant contribution to strengthening of Islam and promoting dialogue among different religions in Indonesia and on the international stage.

In line with a previously extended invitation, the Ambassador informed his counterpart about the concept, goals and objectives of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will be held in Astana on September, 2025. He emphasized that the participation of high-level representatives from Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority country, would make a significant positive contribution to advancing global interreligious dialogue amid the current global conflict situation.

Minister Umar highly valued and supported Kazakhstan’s peacekeeping efforts aimed at promoting harmony, mutual respect and cooperation among various religious communities for global stability and security.

The parties also discussed other issues of practical cooperation between the two friendly nations.
