Deputy Chairman of the Board of the N.Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue Bauyrzhan Bakirov took part in the Conference dedicated to the Day of Spiritual Harmony in Taraz organized by the Department of Religious Affairs of Zhambyl region.
In his speech B.Bakirov noted that: «Zhambyl region is considered a multi-ethnic, multi-confessional region of unity and peace of Kazakhstan. Each ethnic group preserves and develops its culture, language and traditions. Speaking of spiritual harmony, one of the most important peacemaking initiatives of the country is the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which has been held in Astana since 2003. On this platform, the leaders of world religions gather around one table and discuss together ways to achieve peace and harmony. Thanks to this Congress, Kazakhstan has become a global platform for interreligious dialogue. The current situation in the world requires change. Economic or political reforms alone are not enough; human consciousness and spiritual values must also be developed. A new approach based on spiritual revival, tolerance and justice is needed to resolve the world's social, environmental and political crises. Kazakhstan is recognised as the initiator of this spiritual revival».
