From 26 to 28 June, 2023 in the hotel Sheraton of Tbilisi (Georgia) Chairman of the Board Bulat Sarsenbayev took part in the international conference “Religion and Rule of Law” organized by the Georgian State Agency for Religious Affairs together with the non-governmental organization “Institute for Global Engagement” IGE (USA).
The conference was attended by representatives from Kazakhstan, USA, China, Great Britain, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Singapore, Hungary and Moldova.
Within the framework of the conference B.Sarsenbayev spoke at the Plenary session on research of religion and rule of law in Asia with a report on religious policy and interfaith dialogue, on interfaith dialogue in Kazakhstan, on the work of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
During his visit to Tbilisi, the Chairman of the Board held several meetings with political and religious personalities of Georgia. Met with Zaza Vashakmadze, Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Affairs under the Apparatus of the Government of Georgia.
During the meeting, the Head of the State Agency briefed Chairman Sarsenbayev on the state policy in the field of religion, as well as the interfaith dialogue of Georgia.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of the Centre expressed his appreciation for the invitation and thanked him for the hospitality and briefed about the successful VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions last year, which resulted in the adoption of the Declaration, as well as the work of the Center.
A meeting between B.Sarsenbayev and the Archbishop of the Georgian Orthodox Church Ephraim took place at the conference site. The Archbishop highly appreciated the VII Congress held in Astana last year and the adopted Congress Declaration. The Chairman thanked the Archbishop for the opportunity to meet and briefed the Centre.
The Chairman met with Mikhail Sarjveladze, Chairman of the Committee for Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration of the Parliament of Georgia.
During the meeting B.Sarsenbayev thanked for the hospitality and informed about the work of the Center.
At the end of the meetings, the Chairman of the Center presented the guests with the book of the VII Congress and the Declaration in ten languages.
At the end of the international conference, a solemn ceremony of signing the trilateral memorandum of understanding between the N.Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Inter-Civilization Dialogue (Republic of Kazakhstan), “Love your neighbors Community” (USA) and the Secretariat of the International Religious Freedom Roundtable IRF (USA).
