On June 9, 2023, Chairman of the Board of the N. Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Inter-Civilization Dialogue Bulat Sarsenbayev met with the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders Mohamed Abdelsalam.
The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation between the N. Nazarbayev Center and the Muslim Council of Elders within the framework of the Memorandum signed in 2022, and discussion of important aspects of the development of relations in the interfaith and intercultural sphere.
In particular, during the meeting, the parties considered the current status of the opening a branch office of the Muslim Council of Elders in Kazakhstan and the holding of a joint round table in the UAE in order to further advance the ideas of the VII Congress and its final document - the Declaration.
Continuing the meeting, Judge M.Abdelsalam thanked for the warm reception and offered to hold a joint round table on the margins of the UN Climate Change Conference COP28 from 30 November to 12 December 2023 in Dubai.
In turn, B.Sarsenbayev expressed gratitude to Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, as a participant of the VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, for supporting the Center’s initiatives in promoting peaceful dialogue and harmony, and also acquainted with the progress of preparations for the upcoming anniversary XXI Session of the Secretariat of the Congress, which will be held in October 2023 under the leadership of the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Maulen Ashimbayev.
In general, following the meeting, the parties agreed on further cooperation between the two organizations on issues of interreligious harmony.
