In Prague, representatives of faiths discussed Kazakhstan's experience of interreligious dialogue

Prague, September 8, 2022 - the international round table on "Interfaith Dialogue for Peace and Mutual Understanding" was held.

The Embassy of Kazakhstan in the Czech Republic jointly with the N. Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue, as well as the National Academic Library (Nur-Sultan) held a round table with the participation of representatives of the Czech clergy, scientific and expert communities, and representatives of the media of the host country.

Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan M.Azilkhanov, Director of the Department of Religious Studies of the N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue R. Kamarova, representatives of regional APK, diplomats of the Embassy, clergy of Kazakhstan, media representatives took part in the round table on the behalf of Kazakh side. 

From the Czech side, the event was attended by Director of the Department of Regional Development of Culture of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic Zuzana Malkova, Ph.D., ex-Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Mongolia Jiri Shima, rector of the Assumption Church, Archpriest Gaydamachenko, head of the Islamic Union, Professor of the Czech Republic Milan Tayb, Director General of the Czech edition "České noviny" Svetozar Plesnik, The General director of the Czech edition "Prague News" Alyosha Flitcher, representatives of the "Club of Friends of Kazakhstan, journalists, public figures".

During the round table, R. Kamarova told the participants about the preparatory work of the Center in organizing the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will be held on September 14-15, 2022 in Nur-Sultan, and also stressed that the Congress provides productive meetings and communication interaction between leaders of world religions and major political figures. The Director noted that the Congress has become a significant contribution of Kazakhstan to the global process of interreligious dialogue and took a special place in the world community to strengthen the principles of harmony and tolerance, mutual understanding and cooperation in the international arena.

In her speech , Director of the Department of Regional Development of Culture of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic Zuzana Malkova noted: "It is necessary to focus attention on the unique model of Kazakhstan's interfaith harmony, without which, basically, there would not have been those impressive successes in all fields of Kazakhstan's life".

Kazakh diplomats in their speeches noted that interfaith harmony is an important factor in the stability of Independent Kazakhstan.

In turn, the Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Muslim Community of the Czech Republic V. Sankah, the Head of the Church of the Assumption Cathedral of the Czech Republic Archpriest R. Gaydamachenkov stressed that the issues of interethnic harmony are at the epicenter of attention of the Kazakh society and thanks to this, the republic has gained one of the most effective systems for ensuring peace, where there is unique atmosphere of trust, solidarity and mutual understanding.

The event was also attended by representatives of three faiths: Islam, Catholicism, Orthodoxy, as well as Czech professor, renowned theologian Jan Roit, PhD, Professor, renowned Czech scientist Jiri Shima, CEO of the Czech print and online publication Prazsky-magazin.cz Ales Flitcher, a number of representatives of the Czech media, the Friends of Kazakhstan Club, as well as well-known bloggers.

The participants of the round table keenly discussed topical issues in the field of state-confessional relations, the tasks of strengthening Kazakhstan's identity on the basis of a national idea, the increasing role of civil society in promoting interreligious dialogue and mutual understanding.
