Within the framework of his visit to Kazakhstan, U. Cusack visited N. Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue.
During the meeting, Chairman of the Management Board of N. Nazarbayev Center Bulat Sarsenbayev shared with the key tasks of the Center, and also informed about the active preparatory work for the upcoming XIX meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress and for the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will be held in 2022.
The head of the Center noted that Kazakhstan, along with economic modernization, is successfully moving along the path of spiritual modernization. «For 18 years already, the capital of our republic, the city of Nur-Sultan, has been invariable, in the geographical and political maps of the world, the place of convening the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. Over the years, six Congresses of Religious Leaders have been held, the global agenda of which is to discuss the problems of relations between religions and cultures from the point of view of the interests of peace and stability on the planet, as well as other topical problems of the modern global world, followed by the development of recommendations and proposals for the entire world community», - B. Sarsenbayev said.
In addition, Bulat Sarsenbayev emphasized the priority of cooperation with the sector of non-governmental organizations of civil society for our country, in connection with which he invited Mr. U. Cusack to discuss a number of important global issues in the field of interfaith and interreligious harmony at a round table, which will be held as part of a series of round tables aimed at promoting the key initiatives of the Elbasy to ensure and preserve interfaith dialogue, the development of a unique international platform – the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions at the global level.
The sides also agreed to establish partnerships in promoting the ideas of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in the United States within the framework of the platforms of the US non-governmental organization «LAN Community» and the annual International Summit of Religious Freedom.
For his part, Mr. U. Cusack expressed gratitude to Chairman of the Managemnet Board of the Center Bulat Sarsenbayev for the opportunity to discuss important issues of cooperation, noting the invaluable contribution of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy N. Nazarbayev and the consistent policy of the President of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev in ensuring interreligious harmony in the world. Also, the Head of «LYN Community» expressed his readiness to support Kazakhstani initiatives in promoting peaceful dialogue and harmony at the international level.
At the end of the meeting, U. Kusak was also given the opportunity to get acquainted with the photographs exhibited in the gallery dedicated to world and traditional religions, which are timed to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
