The book will be presented by the head of the largest diocese of the Roman Catholic Church, Archbishop of Milan, Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi. As expected, the Chairperson of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Volokolamsky Hilarion, the head of the mentioned above university Lorenzo Ornago and President of the Moscow State University of Foreign Affairs Anatoly Torkunov will take part in the ceremony.

Italian translation of the book was released at the Vatican Publishing House. Introduction to the book was written by the President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, as reported by Catholic News Agency “Zenit”.

The book “Freedom and responsibility: in search of harmony” was published in Russia in 2008 in time of the current primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad.

The book is a collection of speeches and articles from different years combined on the theme of the Christian understanding of human rights and freedoms.

“The author successfully argues with the representatives of neo-liberal camp, seeking to exclude Christian values from the context of modern society. He convincingly demonstrates ineptitude and futility of attempts to impose a single behavioral standard that focuses primarily on the unlimited freedom of the individual on members of different cultures and tradition,” the official website of the Moscow Patriarchate reported.

The book prompts reflection on the future, search for unity of those who are not indifferent to the fate of mankind. Ideas outlined in pages of the book discover the prospect of serving the Church in the XXI century.
