International Holocaust Remembrance Day: Official Memorial Ceremony in Astana
On 27 January 2026, the Embassy of Israel in Kazakhstan, the Embassy of Germany in Kazakhstan, and the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue will organize a memorial ceremony dedicated to International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The event underscores the universal significance of the Holocaust as a historical tragedy and the commitment of the international community to fundamental humanitarian principles.
The ceremony will be attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State of Israel, an official delegation from Israel, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan, members of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the leadership of the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue, representatives of international organizations, religious leaders, and members of the public.
The program of the ceremony includes:

A moment of silence in memory of the six million Jews and all other victims of Nazi persecution;

Official addresses by representatives of Kazakhstan, Israel, and Germany;

A segment dedicated to the life and legacy of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel;

A symbolic candle-lighting ceremony with the participation of representatives of states, international organizations, religious leaders, and diplomats;

The “Yad Vashem” photo exhibition, highlighting the lives of Holocaust victims and the importance of preserving the memory of the tragedy.
The ceremony will serve as a platform for education, the strengthening of intercultural and interreligious dialogue, and the reaffirmation of commitment to historical truth, moral responsibility, and the cultivation of respect for human dignity among future generations.
