International Center Experts Lecture on Religious Issues in Kazakhstan

On June 12, 2025, the International Center for Interconfessional and Interreligious Dialogue in Astana hosted a lecture-meeting titled "The Main Trends in the Religious Situation in Kazakhstan." Organized by the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the event featured presentations by Zaure Malgareyeva, Director of the Religious Situation Analysis and Monitoring Department, and Elmira Birali, Director of the Religious Expertise Department.

The Center's experts presented on key topics: “The Confessional Landscape in Kazakhstan: Challenges and Trends” and “Preventing Religious Extremism in the Online Space.” Zaire Malgareyeva's lecture addressed the extensive issue of destructive religious movements infiltrating the country from abroad, analyzing their mechanisms of adverse influence on youth consciousness. She also outlined strategies for combating radical ideas prevalent online and via social media, underscoring current preventive efforts

 Elmira Birali, in turn highlighted the methodology of religious studies examination for radical content and approaches to counter the dissemination of harmful information.

The event concluded by underscoring how family upbringing and traditional spiritual values are fundamental to fostering religious stability, especially when youth are educated based on national values.
