On May 21, 2025, at 15:00 Astana time, an international online conference titled «The Role of Religious Leaders in Sustainable World Development» was held on the ZOOM platform.
The primary goal of the conference was to discuss and emphasize the role of religious leaders in preventing conflict and promoting peace on a global scale, as well as to facilitate multilateral dialogue towards diplomatic solutions.
Participants in the round table included prominent figures such as Anuar Khatiyev, Chairman of the Committee for Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information ; Nauryzbay Kazhy Taganuly, Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan and Chief Mufti; Muhammad al-Jindi, Secretary-General of Al-Azhar Academy of Islamic Research; Salah al-Aduani, Director General for Conferences and Events at the Muslim World League; Prof. Ibrahim Saleh Al Naimi, Chairman of the International Center for Interreligious Dialogue; alongside other international religious leaders and experts.
During the conference, participants comprehensively discussed the position of religious leaders on the international stage in strengthening peace, as well as the significance of contemporary interreligious dialogue and cooperation. Key issues slated for discussion within the framework of the upcoming VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions were also reviewed.
The event was moderated by Marat Ualikhanuly Kalizhanov, Acting Chairman of the Board of the «International Center for Interconfessional and Interreligious Dialogue».
The conference featured simultaneous interpretation in Kazakh, Russian, English, and Arabic languages.
