The annual international conference, "Imam Reza's Civilizational Thoughts: Human Rights and Dignity," was held in Mashhad, Islamic Republic of Iran, from May 5th to 6th, 2025. The event was organized by the scientific and cultural foundation "Astan Quds Razavi" in partnership with the University of Tehran.
The conference's primary objective was to foster inclusive dialogue among global scholars and public figures, exploring principles of justice, equality, and respect for human dignity. It also examined Islamic heritage and traditions and considered the promotion of social justice.
The conference brought together leading scholars, researchers, and prominent public activists from 21 countries. Notable attendees included Hossein Simai-Saraf, Minister of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran; Mohammadreza Mokhbar Dezfouli, President of the Iranian Academy of Sciences; and Reza Ramadani, Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Ayatollahs, along with other distinguished guests.
The conference schedule included seven thematic sessions where over 40 scholarly presentations were delivered. Key themes addressed in these discussions included human rights and dignity, the role of Islamic civilization in the modern world, interreligious dialogue, and social justice.
Bolat Sarsenbayev, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue, represented Kazakhstan at the conference.
President Mohammad Mokhber of the Islamic Republic of Iran, at the closing ceremony, highlighted the forum's potential for impact. Organizers expressed hope that the meeting would serve to strengthen interfaith dialogue and mutual understanding worldwide.
