On April 15, 2025, The Muslim World League hosted a Roundtable entitled “The Religious Leaders For a Fair and Peaceful World" in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, which was attended by a delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament, Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Maulen Ashimbayev. The delegation also included the country's Grand Mufti Nauryzbai Kazhy Taganuly, members of the Senate and Acting Chairman of the Board of the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue Marat Kalizhanov. The main purpose of the event was to discuss the role of religious leaders in building a sustainable and just world, promote the key ideas and outcomes of the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, as well as the provisions of the Concept of Development of the Congress for 2023-2033 in the context of global instability and emerging geopolitical challenges. Maulen Ashimbayev highlighted the strategic importance of the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev aimed at developing international religious diplomacy and inter-civilizational dialogue, peacemaking and assistance in strengthening global security, as well as humanitarian assistance to the affected regions. It was also emphasized that the institutionalization and development of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions have made it an influential international platform for interreligious dialogue. Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Zaid, Deputy Secretary General of the Muslim World League, speaking on behalf of Secretary General Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, highly appreciated Kazakhstan's contribution to strengthening global interreligious understanding. He expressed gratitude for the development of a unique model of religious diplomacy and noted that the Muslim World League remains committed to promoting peace, respect and tolerance in the spirit of universal Islamic values. Following the event, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Muslim World Islamic and the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue. The participants reiterated the need to strengthen international partnership between religious and expert circles in order to promote moral and spiritual values, and enhance mutual trust and sustainable peace. The parties agreed on the development of joint programs, the exchange of experience and fostering cooperation. The roundtable became an important step towards expanding global spiritual dialogue and working together in the face of actual challenges for the benefit of building a peaceful and fair world.
