Senate Speaker Meets with US House of Representatives Member

Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev held a meeting with member of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Carol Miller

Welcoming his interlocutor, Maulen Ashimbayev noted that the development of strategic relations with the United States is one of the main priorities of Kazakhstan's foreign policy. He also emphasized that a regular political dialogue has been established between the two states, including at the highest level.

The Senate Speaker emphasized the need to intensify inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries. In this vein, the role of parliamentarians in the further development of trade, economic, investment cooperation, energy, mining and other areas of mutual interest were discussed.

At the same time, Maulen Ashimbayev informed Carol Miller about the reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The speaker dwelt in detail on the issues of democratization of the country's political system and new initiatives to strengthen the system of human rights protection, gender equality, ensuring a balance of powers and responsibilities between the branches of government, as well as between the center and the regions, noting the strategic nature of the reforms being carried out. The Chairman of the Chamber separately drew the parliamentarian’s attention to the activities of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and invited religious leaders of the United States to take part in the work of the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will be held on September 17-18, 2025 in Astana under the title “Dialogue of Religions: Synergy for the Future.”
