On February 19, as part of a working trip to Cairo (Egypt), the Commissioner for the Promotion of the goals and objectives of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions - Chairman of the Board of the N.Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue B.Sarsenbayev delivered a lecture at Al-Azhar University dedicated to the "2023-2033 Development Concept of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions", which was developed at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
During the lecture, B.Sarsenbayev familiarized students, undergraduates and faculty of Al-Azhar University with the Kazakh model of "unity in diversity", building a tolerant society and interfaith dialogue, and also spoke about the results of the VII Congress, emphasizing the special role of the Concept in promoting the ideas of peace and harmony in the international arena: "The development Concept of the Congress will contribute to strengthening mutual respect, peace and harmony as unshakable principles of human existence, to promote a culture of dialogue and mutual respect between religions, nations and ethnic groups, and to resolve differences and conflicts through reconciliation and compromise."
The importance of fostering tolerance among the younger generation, which is formed through science and quality education, was emphasized.
Students and faculty of Al-Azhar positively received theses on the need to unite the efforts of religious leaders and international organizations in promoting interreligious and intercivilizational dialogue, as well as on the importance of maintaining the Kazakh model of peaceful coexistence and fostering tolerance among the younger generation.
In general, the above-mentioned event is aimed at promoting the ideas of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions on the formation of respect for religions and cultures of different people of the world, assistance in strengthening interfaith dialogue.
