Today, March 9, a working meeting was held between Chairman of the Board of N.Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue Bulat Sarsenbayev and the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Kazakhstan Michaela Friberg-Story.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged constructive views on issues of cooperation and close cooperation in the field of interfaith and interreligious dialogue.
Expressing sincere gratitude for the opportunity to meet, Bulat Sarsenbaev, Chairman of the Board of N. Nazarbayev Center, especially noted the importance of the constant support of the United Nations and its active participation in the work of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions since 2003.
At the same time, Bulat Sarsenbayev, as the Commissioner for the promotion of the goals and objectives of the Congress, informed the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Kazakhstan about the active preparatory work for the upcoming VII meeting of the Congress on the topic «The role of leaders of world and traditional confessions in the socio-spiritual development of mankind in the post-pandemic period», which will be held on September 14-15, 2022 in Nur-Sultan.
In turn, the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Kazakhstan Michaela Friberg-Story, showing the deepest interest in the idea of a spiritual forum, emphasized the role of the Center in promoting strategic initiatives at the international level in ensuring interfaith harmony, and also confirmed the readiness of comprehensive support and partnership, in particular on the issue of consideration of the application of the Center for Accreditation on UN platforms.
Following the working meeting, the sides agreed to promote and popularize the ideas of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions as a unique global interreligious dialogue platform, as well as to cooperate in the framework of joint preparatory activities for the XX Secretariat of the Congress and the VII session of the Congress.
It should be noted that official invitations to participate in the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Maulen Ashimbaev were sent to both political and religious world leaders, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres and High Representative of the UN Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Angel Moratinos.
