Maulen Ashimbayev met with the Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan

The Senate Speaker, Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions held a meeting with the Head of the Russian Orthodox Church in Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan.

Maulen Ashimbayev said that the Orthodox Church in Kazakhstan carries out extensive work on the spiritual development of the society.

The Senate Chairman reminded that this year the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan celebrates the 25th anniversary of the return of the Ascension Cathedral, a masterpiece of wooden architecture known to all Orthodox Christians. The Cathedral is a historical and cultural landmark put in the list of sacred places in Kazakhstan and represents one of the most outstanding sights in Almaty.  

The parties exchanged their opinions on the implementation of the results of the past Congresses of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, and discussed the issues of further advancement of ideas of inter-confessional harmony in our country.

The Senate Speaker noted the need for the continuation of meaningful cooperation on strengthening peace and dialogue between various faith-based organizations in Kazakhstan.
