On April 13, 2026, Gulsana Kozhabay, Chair of the Board of the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue, held a high-level online meeting with Imam Marwan Sarwar Gill, representing the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Argentina, and Dr. Francisco Rojas Aravena, Rector of the University for Peace.
The Center was also represented by Marat Kalizhanov, Deputy Chair of the Board; Guldana Moldash, Director of the Department for Implementation of Congress Initiatives; and Zhanserik Temirtashev, Senior Consultant of the Department of External Relations and Information, ensuring the dialogue focused on practical implementation and technical cooperation.
The discussion centered on the challenge of moving beyond traditional interreligious dialogue to create practical ways of shaping the global agenda. Dr. Rojas Aravena noted that while the world increasingly calls for “the voice of religions for peace,” building lasting platforms for this dialogue is a complex task that demands both a systemic approach and strong partnerships.
In response, Gulsana Kozhabay identified the transition to a practical partnership as the Center’s top priority. She stressed the importance of moving toward practical cooperation, through expert-led initiatives and joint efforts to address broader global challenges beyond religion.
The participants reached a consensus that the greatest opportunity for impact lies in shaping ethical frameworks for Artificial Intelligence (AI), addressing the religious dimensions of the climate crisis, and supporting conflict resolution.
Particular emphasis was placed on the necessity of institutionalizing this cooperation. The participants expressed their readiness to develop a Memorandum of Understanding, which will formalize the partnership and establish a strategic foundation for long-term collaboration.
As a practical extension of the dialogue, the parties are considering a series of joint initiatives, including expert roundtables and specialized forums that bring together religious leaders, academics, and international organizations. held via digital platforms or at international venues, including European dialogue centers, with the objective of eventually scaling these efforts into broader multilateral initiatives.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to proceed shortly with the coordination of specific steps and frameworks for their joint action.
