The N.Nazarbayev Center took part in an international conference in Batumi

On 9-10 July 2024, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue B.Bakirov took part in an international conference on the topic: «The Role of Religious Literacy in solving modern global challenges» in Batumi (Georgia), organized by the Secretariat of the International Round Table on Religious Freedom IRF and "LYN Community" NGO, as well as with the participation of representatives of religious associations of the USA, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and international organizations in the field of interreligious harmony.

The conference is a significant gathering of scholars and religious leaders from different regions to discuss and promote intercultural religious literacy. The conference provides a unique platform for Kazakhstan to share its approaches and achievements in promoting religious tolerance and cooperation among different religious communities.

During his speech, B.Bakirov noted the importance of developing spiritual diplomacy and spoke about Kazakhstan’s initiatives in the sphere of interfaith harmony and the promotion of global interreligious dialogue. 

In addition, B.Bakirov highlighted the significant role of the VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in strengthening religious tolerance and inter-civilization dialogue, and also stressed that the Congress is a unique dialogue platform in the world community to achieve mutual respect among religions, faiths and ethnos, noting the historical significance of the Declaration of the VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which covers fundamental issues and can be used as guidance and assistance for international organizations and policymakers around the world.

In general, it should be noted that the conference participants agreed on the importance of discussing topical development issues in the field of religious literacy, as well as multilateral interaction and strengthening of cultural humanitarian ties, including intraregional links between the conference’s participating countries.
