On February 13, 2024, a lecture dedicated to the goals and objectives of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, reflected in the Development Concept of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions for 2023-2033 was held at the Kazakh Agrotechnical University named after S. Seifullin. The purpose of this lecture was to familiarize students about the further development of the Congress and its role in strengthening interreligious dialogue and cooperation in the modern world.
During the lecture, senior consultant of the N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue, M. Abisheva, informed about the key provisions of the Development Concept of the Congress, adopted by the participants of the XXI Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. «Upon the implementation of this Concept, the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is expected to contribute significantly to building a world based on respect, mutual understanding and cooperation between people of different religions, cultures and views, where conflicts and disputes are settled through reconciling and trusting dialogue based on common ideas of morality and justice».
Students and professors-teachers positively received the theses on the need to unite the efforts of religious leaders, international organizations in the promotion of interreligious and inter-civilization dialogue, as well as the importance of maintaining Kazakhstan’s model of peaceful coexistence and education of tolerance among the younger generation.
For reference: The development concept of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, defines a common vision for the further development of the Congress, mission, goals and activities until 2033.
The Congress will be developed as a global platform for dialogue and cooperation of religious figures, open to the participation of representatives of international organizations, national governments, non-governmental organizations, and research structures.
The Congress is being held every three years. Since 2003, seven Congresses of the Leaders of world and Traditional Religions have been held in Kazakhstan.
