A meeting of the Club of Leaders of Religious Associations was held in Almaty on the topic: "The role of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in interreligious dialogue"

On the eve of the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, the Department of Religious Affairs of Almaty together with the N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue held a meeting of the Club of Leaders of Religious Associations: "The role of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in interreligious dialogue."

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Department of Religious Affairs of Almaty N.Kikimov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Center N.Nazarbayev N.Yesimov, Chief Imam of the mosque "Ali Muhamed" K.Takirov, Chancellor of the Diocese of the Holy Trinity of the Roman Catholic Church Carlos Laosa Zamarro, Deacon of the Ascension Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church V.Bystrushkin, Head of MRO "Center of the Church "Golgotha" of Evangelical Christians Baptists" A.Luboshnikov, as well as representatives of state bodies and non-governmental organizations.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Department of Religious Affairs of Almaty N.Kikimov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the N.Nazarbayev Center N.Yessimov, Chief Imam of the "Ali Muhamed" mosque K.Takirov, Chancellor of the Diocese of the Holy Trinity of the Roman Catholic Church Carlos Laosa Zamarro, Deacon of the Ascension Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church V.Bystrushkin, Head of the Center of the Church "Golgotha" of Evangelical Christians Baptists A.Luboshnikov, as well as representatives of state bodies and non-governmental organizations.

During the round table, the participants discussed issues of interreligious and intercultural dialogue for the sustainable development of the world and consolidation of efforts to strengthen cooperation between religions and confessions.

Speaking at the event, N.Yessimov told about the history and mission of the Congress, which demonstrated its importance and relevance against the background of the escalation of modern challenges and threats, and also stressed that the upcoming VII Congress will be one of the main international events of the year, in which Kazakhstan will demonstrate to the world its commitment to the ideas of tolerance, openness, mutual respect and trust between the state and society.

In addition, in tribute to the memory of the victims of political repression and famine, N. Yessimov, together with the members of the Club, took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument installed in the Karagaily square.

Also, in order to popularize the diversity of sacred places in Kazakhstan, representatives of religious associations visited the Ascension Cathedral and the mausoleum of Rabbi L.-I.Schneerson, where they held meetings with the cathedral's key-keeper Alexander Suvorov and with representatives of the Jewish community in the "Central Synagogue of Kazakhstan".

At the end of the meeting, the Club members expressed hope that this event was another important step in promoting the sustainable development of interfaith and interreligious dialogue at the global level.
