The Chairman of the Board of the N. Nazarbayev Center took part in the program of the advanced training course «Interfaith dialogue in the media space: common values ​​and experience»

On April 30, Chairman of the Board of the N. Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue Bulat Sarsenbayev made a presentation on the topic: «Scientific research in the field of confessional relations and the religious situation in Kazakhstan» within the framework of the advanced training course «Interfaith dialogue in the media space: common values ​​and experience», organized by the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science of the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov.

In his speech, Bulat Sarsenbayev noted that in the context of a pandemic and isolation of religious communities, digital media and social networks have become indispensable sources of interaction. Online prayers, live streaming of worship services, and Zoom festivities have become part of religious and social life. In this context, it is important to understand the role of leaders of religious associations in maintaining interethnic and interfaith peace and harmony, both nationally and globally.

Speaking about spiritual harmony, the Chairman of the Board of the Center emphasized the importance of one of the the most important peacekeeping initiatives of Kazakhstan in creating a unique platform for the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which provided opportunities for religious leaders and politicians to discuss issues of countering global threats, intolerance, and contribute to the solution of international conflicts.

«Events taking place today in the world require the unity of all participants in the peacebuilding process of a new global order.For this, peace and mutual understanding, solidarity political will of states and support of peoples are important to us»- said Bulat Sarsenbayev.

At the end of his speech, the Head of the Center expressed a common hope that this course has become another essential tool in the implementation of state policy in the field of religion, in the preservation and maintenance of peace, stability and harmony in interfaith and interethnic society.

It should be noted that within the framework of the advanced training program, issues of interfaith dialogue, legislative regulation of interfaith issues were also discussed , research methods and content analysis in religious journalism, problems of religious tolerance and national security.

Recall that advanced training courses were held on the Zoom platform from April 26 to 30, 2021, in which they took part representatives of state bodies, religious associations of Kazakhstan, the media, public funds, as well as teachers , scholars and human rights experts.
