Minister Aida Balayeva visited the new office of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue

On September 24, Minister of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva took part in the presentation of the new office of the N. Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue and the official website of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, the Secretariat and the Center (www.religions-congress.org)

In the light of modern realities for interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Minister Aida Balayeva , at a meeting with the leadership of the Center, outlined new key tasks of the Center for interaction and development of international partnership with the participants of the Secretariat and the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, the outreach work of the Institute  analysis of the religious situation and religious expertise.

As you know, in his speech at the High-level Event to mark the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that “over the past three decades, Kazakhstan has participated in the work of all key UN bodies, including the Security Council, in order to promote such  priorities such as conflict resolution, nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, the fight against terrorism, interfaith and interethnic dialogue, protecting the interests of landlocked developing countries. 

In this regard, the Chairman of the Board of the Center Altay Abibullayev noted the strategic priorities, tasks, ideology and format of the Center's work in the new international realities, the promotion at the international level of the initiatives of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev to preserve and ensure interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue, and also disclosed  the essence of the new and creative projects of the Center for the consolidation of participants in interreligious dialogue.

For reference: Currently, the Center is awaiting registration in the UN system, is actively expanding international cooperation, has reached a partnership with the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the Islamic Research Institute of the International Islamic University of Islamabad, and the UAE International Institute for Cultural Diplomacy.  It is planned to sign memorandums of understanding with the Al-Azhar Center for Interfaith Dialogue, the Muslim Council of Elders, the Interreligious Council of Russia, the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, the Royal Institute for Interreligious Research of Jordan and other actors of the Congress.
