On April 21, 2023, Chairman of the Board of the N. Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Inter-Civilization Dialogue Bulat Sarsenbayev held a lecture in Astana on the results of the VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions held in September 2022 in the capital of Kazakhstan for students, undergraduates and professors of the Kazakh Humanitarian Law University named after M.Narikbayev.
The aim of these events is to bring to the audience the key messages of a unique dialogue platform - the VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and the final Declaration, developed and adopted by spiritual leaders.
During the lecture, Chairman of the Board B.Sarsenbayev acquainted the participants with the results of the VII Congress, noting that the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasizes the special role of the VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in promoting the ideas of peace and harmony in the international arena: “The Congress is an important part of Kazakhstan’s policy aimed at strengthening dialogue and cooperation both in our country and in the world. The declarations adopted in all previous forums have consistently condemned radicalism, violence and conflict, whatever their cause. In today’s complex realities it is very important that religious leaders sitting at the same table show the whole world an example of goodwill, overcoming any differences”.
Also, the Chairman of the Center acquainted the audience with the progress of preparation for the anniversary XXI Session of the Secretariat of the Congress, which will be held in Astana on October 10-11, 2023 under the leadership of the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan - Head of the Secretariat of the Congress M.Ashimbayev.
Students and professors-teachers positively received the theses on the need to unite the efforts of religious leaders, international organizations in the promotion of interreligious and inter-civilization dialogue, as well as the importance of maintaining Kazakhstan’s model of peaceful coexistence and education of tolerance among the younger generation.
It should be noted that a series of lectures dedicated to the theme of the Congress was held in the leading universities of Almaty, Turkestan, Karaganda and Astana.
In general, the above-mentioned activities are aimed at promoting the ideas of the VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and its Declaration on developing respect for religions and cultures of different peoples of the world, and assisting in strengthening interfaith dialogue.
