On May 24-25, 2022, Chairman of the Board of the N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue Bulat Sarsenbayev took part in the XIV Doha Conference for Interfaith Dialogue themed «Religions and Hate Speech: Between Scripture and Practice», which was attended by more than 300 people from 70 countries.
During the conference, the Chairman of the Board, as the Commissioner for promoting the goals and objectives of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, met with the Deputy Minister of Education of the State of Qatar - Chairman of the Doha International Center for interreligious dialogue Ibrahim Saleh Al-Naimi and informed him about the Center’s work for organizing and preparing the VII Congress and noted the need for interfaith cooperation between the countries.
The sides also discussed prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the development of interreligious dialogue and signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Doha International Center for Interreligious Dialogue.
In his turn, during the conversation, Mr. Al-Naimi confirmed his intention to take part in the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and expressed his full readiness to further implement joint projects.
In order to promote the Congress in the international arena, on the sidelines of the conference, B.Sarsenbayev took part in a press briefing for leading Qatari media (The Peninsula, Al Sharq and Al Raya newspapers), where he spoke in detail about the activities of the N.Nazarbayev Center and the importance of the Congress at the global level.
"The Congress has become a significant contribution of Kazakhstan to the global process of interreligious and interfaith dialogue and has taken a special place in the efforts of the world community to strengthen the principles of harmony and tolerance, mutual understanding and cooperation both within the country and in the international arena," - B.Sarsenbayev said during the briefing.
Taking advantage of the opportunity of this visit, the Chairman of the Board conveyed an invitation to the Congress from the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan M.Ashimbayev to the well-known Palestinian journalist of the Al Jazeera TV company Lina Qishawi, who agreed to participate in the event.
Also B.Sarsenbayev met with the management of Al Jazeera TV company, Director of News Assef Hamidi and Deputy Editorial Director Moutasem Abu Dari, during which the parties considered the possibility of interaction in the field of international information cooperation.
In general, foreign partners noted the importance of the upcoming VII Congress as a permanent international interfaith institute for promoting dialogue between religions, cultures and civilizations.
