The President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of the World and Traditional Religions Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a workshop on implementation of the decisions of the V Congress of leaders of world and traditional religions, as well as the further development of this forum. The event was attended by heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the International Center of Cultures and Religions, the apparatus of the Senate.
The meeting participants reviewed the conceptual and organizational issues on the initiatives of President Nursultan Nazarbayev implementation to establish the “Award for the contribution to the development and strengthening of spiritual peace and harmony”, the award of honor of the Congress of Leaders of world and traditional religions, as well as the Museum of Peace and Accord in Astana. K.Tokayev charged to complete the preparatory work in this direction for the timely introduction of the relevant proposals to the Head of State and the religious leaders.
The Senate Speaker emphasized the importance of careful preparation for the XV sitting of the Congress Secretariat and the conference on the role of religious leaders in terrorismcombating, which is scheduled for the middle of 2016 in Astana. The meeting is also requested to make proposals to improve the work of the International Center of Cultures and Religions. The Senate Speaker drew attention to the need to establish a permanent interactive dialogue of the forum delegates between the meetings of the Congress and the Secretariat.
The reports on implementation of the decisions of the V Congress and on the initiatives of the forum were made by Deputy Minister of Culture and Sport Marat Azilhanov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerzhan Ashikbayev.
