N.Nazarbayev Center took part in conference on the Role of Religious Leaders in Spreading Tolerance and Peace in Seville

On 2 July, Acting Chairman of the Board of the N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Inter-Civilization Dialogue – Dianna Yessenova took part in an international conference on the theme: «Role of Religious Leaders in Spreading Tolerance and Peace», with the participation of representatives of government agencies, religious associations and international organizations in the field of interreligious harmony in Seville (Spain).

Acting Chairman of the Center stressed the importance of mutual cooperation and the development of interfaith and inter-civilization dialogue between the countries, and also shared Kazakhstan's experience of interethnic tolerance and social harmony.

Within the framework of her working trip D. Yessenova held bilateral meetings with the Secretary-General Higher Committee of Human Fraternity – Dr. Khalid Ghanim Al Ghaith, Chairman of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace - Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan, Chairman of the Abrahamic Forum for Interreligious Dialogue in the Kingdom of Spain - Dr. Saif El Islam Benabdennour. 

During the bilateral meetings, D. Yessenova expressed gratitude to the participants of the event for the comprehensive and consistent support of the work of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which, thanks to joint efforts, has become a platform for strengthening mutual understanding and mutual respect between religions. She also stressed the importance of developing spiritual diplomacy and spoke about Kazakhstan's initiatives in the field of interfaith harmony and the promotion of global interreligious dialogue.

During the bilateral meeting, the parties were signed memorandums of cooperation with the Foundation for Islamic Culture and Religious Tolerance and the Abraham Forum for Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue in Spain. 

The purpose of the Memorandum is to cooperate in the implementation of joint research and information activities in the field of culture, as well as the development of interfaith dialogue. The organizations intend to cooperate in promoting the ideas of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, as well as in organizing conferences, round tables and other events of mutual interest.

In general, as a result of the event, the participants developed appropriate recommendations for further study of the issues of strengthening cooperation between religious leaders, politicians and international organizations in order to contribute to solving the global problems of the modern world.
