28 March, 2023 the Chairman of the Board of the N. Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Inter-Civilization Center Bulat Sarsenbayev took part in a video conference organized by the International Islamic University of Islamabad on the theme of the research project: «Reduction of Gender Violence in Pakistan and Capacity Building of the Justice System» during which the Working Group of Experts met.
For the social reconstruction of Pakistani society, the Institute, in cooperation with various legal education institutions and judicial academies, is engaged in combating gender-based violence in Pakistan, provides capacity building training to the Pakistani judiciary.
As part of the participation in the Working Group of Experts, B. Sarsenbayev spoke about the gender policy in Kazakhstan, based on the principles of continuity and balance: “The strengthening of gender equality in State and public policy, as a fundamental factor of competitiveness, can guarantee the country sustainable development. From this point of view, the initiatives of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to promote the interests and protect the rights of women, including the introduction of a 30% quota for women and youth in electoral party lists, tougher punishment for rape, pedophilia, and domestic violence against women, turned out to be timely, introduction of a new mechanism for the distribution of targeted social assistance”.
The research and baseline data from stakeholders will enable the Working Group of Experts to provide capacity-building activities in line with best national and international practices for rule of law actors.
