Roundtable participants in Vilnius: Kazakhstan shows the whole world an example of interreligious harmony

Vilnius, May 12, 2022 - The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan held the roundtable on the topic “Interfaith Dialogue for Peace and Harmony”, dedicated to the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will be hosted in September this year.

Kazakh diplomats spoke about the history and mission of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which proved its relevance and increased demand against the background of the escalation of modern challenges and threats.

Simas Levin, Chairman of the Vilnius Jewish Religious Community, noted that Kazakhstan serves as an example for the world community within interreligious harmony. During his several visits to Almaty, he drew attention to the tolerant attitude of Kazakhstanis towards all religious denominations.

Yuri Shpakovsky, Head of the Karaite community, emphasized the prospects of the policy of the country's leadership, headed by President K.Tokayev, aimed at promoting tolerance, interethnic and interfaith dialogue.

Romuldas Krinickas, the Deputy Chief Mufti of Lithuania, expressed gratitude for the organization of the roundtable, which made it possible to learn more about Kazakhstan's efforts to strengthen cooperation between religions.

During the event, a video about the path of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions over 19 years, as well as about the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, built specifically for this congress, was shown.

In general, the participants of the roundtable highly appreciated the unique formula of national unity and consent of all Kazakhstanis, regardless of their religious and ethnocultural backgrounds.
