Today, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament, Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received members of the Working Group of Secretariat of the Congress.
K. Tokayev thanked all the participants of the meeting of the Working Group of Secretariat of the Congress, held in Astana on 13-14 October of the current year for a successful and fruitful work in promoting interfaith and intercultural dialogue.
Members of the Working Group approved the draft Concept of the activity of the Council of Religious Leaders. The initiative to create such a document belongs to President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
As the Speaker said, the concept of the document will be approved at the IV Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in 2012. During the next meeting of the Secretariat, to be held in May 2011, it is planned to discuss the form of adoption of the Concept of the Council of Religious Leaders, determine the date of the event, subject and agenda of the IV Congress.
The participants highly appreciated the contribution of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to the global process of dialogue among civilizations and strengthening the principles of tolerance and mutual understanding. It was noted that interfaith dialogue is becoming an important tool for achieving unity and harmony among nations, and Congress – a qualitative new platform for cooperation among representatives of different religions.
