In the course of the meeting, the interlocutors discussed issues of legislative support of the instructions given by the President. The Senate Chairman reported on the adoption of several laws, including changes and additions to the Republican budget, and amendments to the electoral legislation. These laws have been signed by the Head of State. The upper House also adopted the law regulating the procurement of the quasi-public sector. Parliamentarians are considering the bills on social entrepreneurship development, making amendments and additions to the Tax Code, and others.
Maulen Ashimbayev informed that from the beginning of the current session, senators have proposed 12 bills, 3 of which were adopted by the Parliament, 4 bills are under consideration of the Senate and the Mazhilis, and another 5 bills are at the initiation stage.
The Speaker told Kassym-Jomart Tokayev about the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, strengthening contacts with legislative bodies of Russia, Uzbekistan, and other countries.
Maulen Ashimbayev also represented the collection “Asharshylyk. Hunger. 1928-1934. Documentary chronicle” to the Head of State, prepared as part of the order by the President. This three-volume edition compiles over a thousand archival documents describing the tragic history of forced collectivization in Kazakhstan.
