On April 14, 2022, Bulat Sarsenbayev the Commissioner for the Promotion of the goals and Objectives of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, Chairman of the Board of the N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue, met with the Head of the Metropolitan Area of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan.
During the bilateral meeting, B. Sarsenbayev informed the Metropolitan about the preparatory work of the Center for the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. The special attention of the leadership of Kazakhstan in this direction, securing the status of a universal global interreligious dialogue platform for the Kazakhstan forum, providing a constructive dialogue on the most pressing problems of our time was emphasized.
The parties also discussed issues related to the program of Patriarch Kirill's visit to Kazakhstan as part of his participation in the VII Congress in September this year, joining the historical document "On Human Brotherhood and Peaceful Coexistence", signed between the Holy See and Al-Azhar in 2019, the implementation of a number of joint events on the eve of the VII Congress, in particular meetings of the Club of Leaders of Religious Associations in Almaty, Uralsk, dedicated to the role of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in interreligious dialogue with the organization of tours and visit to the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, the Cathedral of Archangel Mikhail and other sacred places representing the historical and cultural heritage of Kazakhstan.
Metropolitan Alexander, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, assured that he was ready to make the necessary efforts in holding events in the interreligious and intercultural sphere.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chairman of the Board thanked Metropolitan Alexander for supporting the ideas of the Congress and the initiatives of the Center for the development of interreligious and intercivilization dialogue on the international level.
