Catholic Cathedral in Astana. The Cathedral of Our Mother of Perpetual Help was built in Astana in 1998.
The cornerstone for the construction of the Cathedral was consecrated by Pope John Paul II on 23 September 2001 during his visit to Kazakhstan.
The cathedral itself was consecrated by the representative of the Pope in Russia Archbishop Antonio Mennini on 25 June 2006 almost immediately after the completion of the construction work
