Orthodox Cathedral of the Astana diocese in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin.
In January 2006, the first stone was laid and the foundation stone of the new cathedral was consecrated, and the first church service was held on Easter 2006. Assumption Cathedral is the largest in the territory of Central Asia, can accommodate up to 4 thousand people at the same time. The cathedral is the place of storage of many sacred and valuable icons.
The Cathedral has a spiritual and cultural center. The complex includes a Sunday school, a hotel for pilgrims, a building of the Orthodox Youth Department of Astana.
