N. Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue and the Egyptian University of Islamic Culture «Nur-Mubarak» agreed on further cooperation

On May 11 this year, the Chairman of the Board of the N. Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue Bulat Sarsenbayev during his working visit to Almaty met with the rector of the Egyptian University of Islamic Culture «Nur-Mubarak» Muhammad al-Shahkhat al-Jindi.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Board of the N. Nazarbayev Center Bulat Sarsenbayev stressed that Kazakhstan is constantly striving to promote an effective strategy of peace and harmony between confessions and peoples, maintaining stability and security at the international level. In this regard, the position of the Egyptian University of Islamic Culture «Nur-Mubarak», which plays a key role in promoting the ideas and values ​​of the dialogue of religions and cultures, is of great interest to the Center.

Bulat Sarsenbayev noted that the main goal of the N.Nazarbayev Center is to promote the establishment of interfaith dialogue between all religions in an atmosphere of mutual respect. So, this year, the Center has strengthened comprehensive work to develop cooperation with religious leaders, heads of authoritative international institutions and organizations, the scientific and expert community of Kazakhstan and abroad on interaction in the field of religion, the implementation of joint projects and events aimed at strengthening interreligious and intercivilizational dialogue.

In addition, Bulat Sarsenbayev spoke about the ongoing work of the Institute for the Analysis of the Religious Situation and Religious Expertise, operating on the basis of the Center, whose activities are aimed at monitoring the religious situation, conducting scientific and practical religious studies and religious expertise.

The Head of the N. Nazarbayev Center paid special attention to the issue of preparation for the 19th meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress this year, the importance of holding the upcoming VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in 2022, and also shared plans for international events of the Center for the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence.

Expressing his sincere gratitude to Bulat Sarsenbayev, Muhammad al-Shahkhat al-Jindi, a participant of the VI Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and a member of the working group of the Secretariat of the Congress, noted the role of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy N. Nazarbayev and Head of State K.Tokayev in strengthening international security and stability, and also indicated that in light of the partnership between the University and the Center, including his personal interest in striving to develop effective relationships, today's meeting is an excellent opportunity to further strengthen fruitful interaction.

The parties agreed to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation in order to organize expert meetings with students and graduates of universities on topical issues in the field of religion, implement joint research projects, promote ideas and decisions of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

Following the meeting, Bulat Sarsenbayev invited Muhammad al-Shahkhat al-Jindi to take part in the opening of the international photo exhibition «Islam and Humanity: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow», which will be held on May 17 this year at the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Recall, in order to establish partnerships and promote the ideas of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, the Chairman of the Board of the N.Nazarbayev Center Bulat Sarsenbayev from May 11 to 17 of this year, within the framework of a working trip to Almaty, holds meetings with the leaders of leading higher educational institutions, research and non-governmental organizations, representatives of the largest mass media in Kazakhstan.
