N. Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue and the Baku International Center for Interfaith and Inter-Сivilizational Cooperation (BCIC) signed a memorandum of cooperation

In order to promote the ideas and decisions of the Congresses of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, the Baku Summits of Religious Leaders of the World, to popularize international initiatives in the field of interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue, to promote the spiritual rapprochement of cultures and religions, and to strengthen constructive cooperation, the Secretary General of the Baku International Center for Interreligious and intercivilizational cooperation Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshükür Pashazade and Chairman of the Board of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue Altay Abibullayev signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on December 7, 2020.


The purpose of the Memorandum is the implementation of cooperation in the development of intercivilizational, interreligious and interfaith dialogue, tolerance and harmony, assistance in the development of mutual understanding on issues of the historical significance of global platforms for interfaith, interfaith dialogue - the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and the Baku Summit of Religious Leaders of the World.


The parties reached an agreement in principle on mutual participation and holding joint events, opening dialogue platforms and discussion platforms aimed at promoting interreligious, interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue, organizing guest lectures, expert meetings with the participation of religious leaders, prominent statesmen, scientists, representatives of the Center.


Earlier, the Secretary General of the Baku International Center for Interreligious and Intercivilizational Cooperation Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshükür Pashazade  said that “We highly appreciate the personal contribution of His Excellency, the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev in the development of interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue around the world. Prayerfully I appeal to the Almighty for the mercy and blessing of our further cooperation for the benefit of strengthening the relationship between our peoples and countries". 


For reference: The mission of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue is aimed at promoting the initiatives of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy to preserve and ensure interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue, popularize the ideas of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions at the international level, develop new initiatives to promote international dialogue.


The idea of ​​creating the Baku International Center for Interfaith and Intercivilizational Cooperation (BCIC) was put forward and approved by the participants of the conference "2017 - Year of Islamic Solidarity: Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue", held in Baku on December 21, 2017 within the framework of the Year of Islamic Solidarity, announced by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev.


The Center's activities are aimed at promoting cultural diversity, interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue, promoting international initiatives aimed at preventing global threats and challenges to ensure peace and security in the world.
