The Impact of the social media and fake news on cultural diplomacy

On 9th of July, 2020, an International Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, who is a partner of N. Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Inter-Civilization Dialogue, conducted the session under the title: “The Impact of the social media and fake news on cultural diplomacy”.

The event was attended by Altay Abibullayev,  Board Chairman of the Nazarbayev Center, Professor Nabil Ayad, Director of International Diplomacy Postgraduate programmes at the British School of Leadership and Management, Glasgow Caledonian University London Campus, founder and former Director, Professor Richard Harvey, Director of Admissions and Internationalization, University of East Anglia, UK, representatives of London Academy of Diplomacy, the Academy of Diplomacy and International Governance, Loughborough University and others.

Session participants highlighted  social media’s growing role in spiritual and cultural diplomacy developing, emphasized the importance  of religious associations official accounts developing, aimed to be a powerful and effective tool for informing and promoting the values of dialogue, understanding and strengthening cooperation between peoples, cultures, and also will help neutralize the spread of fake news in the modern world.
