International conference dedicated to the Day of Spiritual Harmony was held in Astana

On October 18, 2023, the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation hosted an international conference dedicated to the Day of Spiritual Harmony on the theme: "Spiritual harmony is the basis of peace and unity in the face of challenges of modern society."

Organizers of the event: N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue, Akimat of Astana city, Center for the study of religions of Astana city.

The conference was attended by Deputy Akim of Astana city E.Bayken, Chairman of the Maslikhat of Astana E.Kanalimov, Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan E.Nukezhanov, Chairman of the Board of the N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue B.Sarsenbayev, Honored Public Figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan T. Mukhamedzhanov, heads of religious associations, representatives of diplomatic missions in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as participants from Lebanon, Germany and Russia.

The purpose of the conference was to promote the ideas of tolerance, spiritual harmony in the name of peace and stability in the Kazakh society, uniting citizens around common spiritual and moral values.

As you know, in the Manifesto adopted in Almaty in 1992, the participants of the First Congress declared October 18 a Day of Spiritual Harmony. The day of the moratorium on conflicts and clashes, the day of seeking reconciliation, establishing mutual understanding between people, the day of mercy and helping people.

In his welcoming speech, Deputy Mayor of Astana Eset Bayken noted the exceptional attention of the state to events with representatives of religious associations of the capital, including the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, multi-format international events, charity events and annual tree planting.

Chairman of the Board of the N.Nazarbayev Center Bulat Sarsenbayev noted the importance of the XXI meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions chaired by Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Maulen Ashimbayev, which was attended by representatives from 23 countries. The importance of further promotion in Kazakhstan and abroad of the Concept of the development of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions for 2023-2033, developed on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.Tokayev. «As a result of the joint hard work of the members of the XXI Secretariat of the Congress, a historical document was adopted - 2023-2033 Development Concept of the Congress. In the future, the activities of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions will be carried out in three main directions: The First, the preparation and holding of interreligious forums taking into account current global trends and challenges. Secondly, assistance in solving the global problems of the modern world on the basis of the systematic implementation of the declarations of the Congresses. Third, the development of spiritual diplomacy, strengthening the partnership relations of the Congress with international institutions and venues, and other subjects of international relations. Following the results of each Congress, Roadmaps for the promotion and practical implementation of the declaration of the Congress will be adopted, both in Kazakhstan and at the international level, together with the partners of the forum. I am sure that this will significantly increase the status of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions as an effective platform for multilateral dialogue and cooperation, coordination of efforts of leaders of world and traditional religions, international, national, public institutions supporting the mission of the Congress» - noted the Chairman of the Board B.Sarsenbayev.

In general, the participants in their speeches expressed the special importance of the Day of Spiritual Harmony, emphasizing its role in preserving unity and well-being in Kazakhstan, and also congratulated on the main national holidays, the Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which will be held on October 25.
