Exhibition of calligraphic works "The Beauty of the Primordial Art of Islam"

Organizer: NPJSC “N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Inter-civilizational Dialogue” Museum of Peace and Reconciliation together with calligrapher Orynbasar Asylbek Bayuzakuly.  

Venue: Astana, in the building of the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, on the 3rd floor in the Atrium “Kazakhstan territory of Peace and Reconciliation” on the basis on Museum of Peace and Reconciliation will be organized an exhibition on the theme: “The beauty of the Primordial Аrt of Islam”.

Opening date: April 25 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

Dates: from 25 April to 25 May 2024.

         The exhibition will feature 19 calligraphic works by Orynbasar Asylbek, the owner of the “izhaz” in calligraphy in Central Asia, the only kazakhstani calligrapher with unique knowledge and skills in the form of ancient art. At the exhibition, Orynbasar Asylbek will show a master class on writing calligraphy and present it as a gift to the guests. The exposition will also feature the holy books of the Quran from the fund of the Central Mosque of Astana of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan. These ancient manuscripts, which contain wisdom and knowledge, will demonstrate the rich history of Islamic heritage in Kazakhstan. The museum fund of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will replenish the exhibition with copies of the Quran of various sizes and the oldest manuscripts of this sacred text. Islamic souvenirs and ethnographic tableware provided by the N.Nazarbayev Center fund will become an integral part of the exhibition. Jewelry made of silver, baskur (webbing), samovar, bowls and other items will become a window into the cultural heritage of the Kazakh people and its ties with the Islamic world. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to be acquainted with the ancient art of calligraphy, see the sacred books of the Islamic tradition and feel the rich history and culture of Kazakhstan. It will not only enlighten visitors, but also inspire them to gain a deeper understanding of Islam and its impact on art and culture. The exhibits will become symbols of cultural dialogue and interreligious harmony, promoting mutual understanding and respect between peoples.

         These calligraphic works of Orynbasar Asylbek have been exhibited in different countries of the world, such as Turkey, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Great Britain and Kazakhstan.

         Orynbasar Asylbek took part in the painting of the Main Mosque of Astana and other mosques in Kazakhstan and abroad. He teaches students the art of calligraphy at the Abu Hanifa Republican College-Madrasah in Almaty.
