A seminar was held in Nur-Sultan on the topic: «Interethnic tolerance and interfaith dialogue»

The issues of preserving interreligious harmony, strengthening friendly relations between ethnic groups were discussed today in the capital of Kazakhstan.

On May 27, 2021, an online seminar «Interethnic tolerance and interfaith dialogue» was held, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event, organized by the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of Norway, was attended by Chairman of the Board of the Center N. Nazarbayev for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue Bulat Sarsenbayev, Norwegian Minister of Culture and the deputy of the Liberal Party Abid Raja, High Commissioner on National Minorities  Amb. Kairat Abdrakhmanov, Director of Institute of World Economics and Politics under the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation Yerzhan Saltybayev, Leader of the Jewish Community in Oslo, Deputy Head of the Norwegian Center Against Racism  Ervin Kohn, Ex-Director of the Sami Rune Fjellheim, news anchor for TV2 news channel Thomas Henschien.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Board of the N. Nazarbayev Center Bulat Sarsenbayev dwelt in detail on the achievements of Kazakhstan during the years of Independence, emphasizing that the axiom of success, of course, lies in the wise policy of Elbasy N. Nazarbayev and in the international authority of the Head of State K. Tokayev. B. Sarsenbayev also stressed that the current meeting is evidence of long-term friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Norway. In conclusion, B. Sarsenbayev shared the plans of the Center for organizing and holding the 19th Secretariat of the Congress, conferences and thematic photo exhibitions timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan, as well as the upcoming VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in 2022.

Summing up, the participants of the seminar agreed that the experience of Kazakhstan is an indicator of the successful building of its own model of interreligious and interfaith harmony, and also contributes to the development of global intercultural interaction and the achievement of harmony in the world.
