“Alliance of Civilizations is ready to cooperate with you in order to fully perform your obligations at the local, national and regional level”, said Sampaio, speaking at the High-Level OSCE Conference Panel on Tolerance and Nondiscrimination, held in Astana. Kazakhstan is an active member of the Friends of the Alliance of Civilizations, established under the auspices of the UN, and including more than 80 states and international organizations. The Alliance was initiated by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in 2005 with co-sponsorship of the Prime Ministers of Spain and Turkey.
Sampaio recalled that the Alliance “urged its members to develop national plans of the regional strategy of intercultural dialogue, covering the four main areas of activity of the Alliance: education, youth, media and migration”.
“I'll be very pleased to introduce a number of recommendations, specific actions that could be done in those four years, which we suggest to our members, including national and regional strategies as priority areas for joint action”, said High Representative for the Alliance.
