On December 23 of this year, at the international platform EXPO-2020 in Dubai, Chairman of the Board of N. Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue Bulat Sarsenbayev held a number of bilateral meetings with the head of the Kazakhstan pavilion EXPO-2020 Kyrgyzkhan Rakhymzhan, Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Dubai Zhumabek Rauan.
During the meetings, Bulat Sarsenbayev presented the interreligious forum - the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, emphasizing its special role in promoting the ideas of peace and harmony in the international arena, and also spoke about the key areas of N. Nazarbayev Center's activities in the development of interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue.
«In modern realities, the mission of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, a generally recognized and representative dialogue platform in the world, is significantly increasing. The participation of religious leaders, influential world-class politicians, as well as representatives of international organizations gives the Congress the additional dynamism necessary for the successful implementation of its decisions and promotion of the ideas of interreligious dialogue and harmony. In this regard, it is important to geographically expand and promote the fundamental goals and objectives of the Congress at the international level», - said Chairman of the Board of the Center.
In addition, Bulat Sarsenbayev held a meeting with the representative of the Council of Elders of Muslims Omar Obeidat. In the conversation, it was noted about the preparatory work carried out for the upcoming VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, the importance of the contribution of religious leaders to rethinking the lessons of the pandemic, its socio-economic and humanitarian consequences.
Expressing gratitude to President of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev for the development and strengthening of global interreligious dialogue, Omar Obeidat focused his attention on the forward-looking policy of the First President of Kazakhstan – Elbasy N. Nazarbayev in ensuring international security, developing the principles of tolerance and mutual respect for the religious views of all citizens, which have become integral part of Kazakhstani culture and an important vector in the development of relations between Kazakhstan and the countries of the world.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on cooperation and the organization of a joint exhibition of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions on the basis of EXPO-2020 in Dubai.
It should be noted that the world exhibition Expo-2020, dedicated to the theme «Connecting Minds, Creating the Future» is being held in Dubai from October 1 of this year to March 31, 2022. 192 participating countries are represented in Expo-2020 by thematic clusters: «Sustainability», «Mobility» and «Opportunities». The pavilion of Kazakhstan is located in the cluster «Opportunities», demonstrating to the world the diversity of the country, and showing the synthesis of the traditions of the East in a harmonious combination with modern digital solutions.
