Cooperation in strengthening intercivilizational dialogue was discussed by experts from Kazakhstan and Malaysia

On December 22, 2021, a round table was held on the topic «Interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue for the sake of peace and harmony», organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Malaysia and N. Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue.

The event, which was held in the format of a video conference, was attended by experts and scientists of the two states in the field of religion, as well as university professors.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Malaysia Bulat Sugurbayev noted the proximity of the cultures of the two countries and stressed the importance of further strengthening interaction at the expert level in the field of dialogue between religions. «This area of cooperation is an important part of the cultural component of the comprehensive partnership between Kazakhstan and Malaysia», - he said.

Bulat Sarsenbayev, Chairman of the Board of N. Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue, noted the achievements of Kazakhstan in the world arena in the field of interreligious dialogue, acquainted the participants of the round table with the main directions of the Center's activities and proposed to intensify its cooperation with Malaysian partners.

The participants of the round table exchanged views on issues of interfaith development, discussed the ideas of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. Malaysian experts highly appreciated the Kazakhstani model of peace and harmony, noting the unity of the people, representatives of different confessions and religions, living harmoniously in the country. Professor of the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization at the International Islamic University of Malaysia Osman Bakar noted the importance of establishing interreligious dialogue on a global scale.

As a result of the event, the expert communities of the two states agreed to continue the development of scientific and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Malaysia, in particular, on issues of intercivilizational interaction.

Recall that the round table was organized in support of the implementation of the initiatives of the leadership of Kazakhstan to promote the goals of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. The upcoming VII meeting of the Congress on the topic «The role of leaders of world and traditional confessions in the social and spiritual development of mankind in the post-pandemic period» will be held on September 14-15, 2022 in Nur-Sultan.
